The Columbus, Newark & Zanesville interurban company served the Ohio cities of Columbus, Pataskala, Newark,
Granville, and Zanesville. It ran through scenic Blackhand Gorge, through the only trolley tunnel in Ohio.

Ohio had two north-south canals: the Miami and Erie between Toledo to Cincinnati, and the Ohio and Erie between Cleveland and Portmouth.
